Just finished Tell Me About Orchard Hollow, another beautiful story by Lin Stepp. In this one, Jenna Howell, a woman dominated by a tyrant of a husband, seeks escape in the Smoky Mountain area known as Orchard Hollow. When she arrives at her friend Sam's old cabin, she is nervous, shy, and fearful of everything...from years of being humiliated and belittled by her husband. I could identify with Jenna since I experienced the same things. I live near the area which is the setting for the book. My son and family live there, so I enjoyed this book very much. I am now on the third book. I just discovered this author a few weeks ago and am so glad that I did. I recomment it highly.
Love the Smoky Mountain series. Makes you feel like you are there and the people Ms Stepp has created could be best friends and neighbors. Really needed something uplifting at this point in time and she has hit the spot. Reading the whole series.
another great read taking place in the smoky mountains. we are headed there at Christmas....i read the first book so quickly and then started this one. i will have to order more now to last me til my trip. a sweet, easy read. a little mystery in this one....again, like reading a halmark movie. love scenes are tame enough that I will let my daughters read them when they become dating age. they follow Biblical Morals. My only disappointment was that although the settings are the same in the book series.....the characters are all different....but still wonderful books. i have the 3rd one to start tonight and am online now to order 4-6 so i will actually have something to read while in the smokies in 3 weeks!
A wonderful novel with a little romance, and a lesson about life. I love the characters and feel that I am part of the community. The setting of the Smoky Mountains adds to the charm of Lin Stepp's writing. I highly recommend this book if you like good clean stories that will hold your interest from first to last page. I couldn't put it down!
Dr. Lin Stepp hit it right on with her story set in Townsend, TN. She captured the spirit of the people in Townsend just as they are-caring, down to earth and true Southerners. My family has visited Townsend many times and I felt that Dr. Stepp shared my sentiments about that area. She also captured my feelings about the Great Smoky Mountains and mentioned places we've actually hiked while visiting there. I did not want the main character to go back to NYC, simply because I love Townsend so much. The character did know where her heart was. Looking forward to Dr. Stepp's next book set in this glorious area.
I love Lin Stepp's bks!!! She writes about an area that I love. Lots of the areas she mentioned, I have visited and I can get lost in her books.
I have read every one she has written. I have put them all on my keeper shelf to reread again and again. Her wrtting is detailed in describing the locations, characters and their feelings. I loved the latest one in her "Smokey Mountain series" I find myself watching and looking for all the small things that are in the book that I have never even thought of. My only problem is that she does not write fast enough. I am going to buy and camera and try my luck. Thank you, Lin
Very, very enjoyable book. I've read several of Ms. Stepp's books and highly recommend them. You become part of the book, enjoying the characters and surroundings. Even though she lives in the area, and I do too, she definitely does her homework to make sure everything she's writing about is perfect. I look forward to picking out another of her books shortly to see what area and adventure I will go on next.
